We were proud to be asked by Nottinghamshire County Council to film the opening of Whipman Woods Flying High Academy in the Gateford area of Worksop new school in Nottinghamshire.
The new £11 million, 210-place primary school boasts the latest environmental and heating features and will eventually have capacity for 315 places, plus a 26-place nursery, to meet the needs of local families.
Cllr Sam Smith, our Cabinet Member for Education and SEND, said: "I was absolutely delighted to attend the official opening of the new Whipman Woods Flying High Academy and meet the children, school staff and our partners for this significant milestone.
“We have invested more than £11 million in delivering this fantastic project, reinforcing our commitment to ensuring children across Nottinghamshire have access to a good school close to where they live.
“It’s vital that every child, no matter what their background, gets the best possible education, in the best possible setting.
“Schools are at the heart of communities and the new Whipman Woods Flying High Academy will help to meet the demand for school places brought about by new housing developments, such as the one in Gateford which is providing 210 primary places with room to expand if needed."
He was joined at the opening by Deputy Cabinet Member for Education and SEND, Cllr Nigel Moxon, and Cabinet Member for Children and Families, Cllr Tracey Taylor.
The project was delivered with Arc Partnership, Morgan Sindall Construction and SCAPE Group in conjunction with the Flying High Partnership.
