Video production in Birmingham : Charity, St. Basils and Equans deliver housing for those in need.

At Stag Communications, we’re proud to partner with organisations that are truly making a difference. One such organisation is St Basils, a Birmingham-based charity with a remarkable mission. Working across the West Midlands, St Basils supports young people aged 16–25 who are at risk of homelessness by providing safe, supportive and affordable housing options. Through our ongoing work with Equans, we’ve had the privilege of documenting one of their most inspiring projects to date.

St Basils takes an innovative approach to housing—repurposing buildings that would otherwise lie empty or derelict, and turning them into vibrant, livable homes for vulnerable young people. These aren’t just temporary shelters—they’re thoughtfully designed apartments that offer both comfort and dignity, helping residents feel safe, secure, and empowered to build a better future.

In this particular project, Equans worked alongside St Basils to breathe new life into three long-abandoned buildings. Previously used as nurses’ accommodation, the buildings had fallen into disrepair and were uninhabitable. Through a significant renovation effort, they’ve now been transformed into 54 high-quality apartments. These homes will provide young people not just with a roof over their heads, but with stability, community, and the chance to thrive.

We were fortunate to be involved from the very beginning, capturing the journey from start to finish. As a company specialising in video production in Birmingham, it was incredibly rewarding to document the transformation—from the damp, neglected shell of the original buildings to the bright, modern living spaces they’ve become. Our team filmed every stage of the process, highlighting the incredible work done by the teams on the ground, and showcasing the profound impact that a project like this can have on local communities.

Telling authentic stories through video is at the heart of what we do, and this collaboration was a perfect example. The footage we captured not only celebrates the achievements of St Basils and Equans, but also raises awareness about the ongoing need for safe, supportive housing for young people across the UK.
